Technology increases human performance when human or employees use technology for the benefits of the organization and use with ethical values. Individual person cannot adopt technology easily but group of people can adopt technology easily.

  1. Very interesting topic. I think majority of the company that operates in major cities in Sri Lanka are leaning more towards embracing IT but still there are people who are not able make the maximum use of all the bells and whistles that IT brings in.

Without proper training it may also have adverse impact on the performance where as the employee might be confused on how to used the system and so on. This might be visible in Government Sector if there is a request that is out of the normal protocol they are struggling to handle the exceptional scenarios. Typing vs writing is a very good example in that case.

But these factors should not stop the company or any institution not to embrace it. And HR should make necessary actions so that they can get the maximum advantage from their respective staff with the involvement of IT.

  2. Indeed the technology has given the companies an extra leap to be more efficient in the market. The technology will give you the competitive advantage over rivals. As you correctly said, these technologies have reduced the burden of process, data storing, saving time, accurate data, etc.

Most importantly organisations need to encourage the customers to move in to ICT to see the realistic benefits. Specially in the service sectors.

  3. Impact of Technology in performance is an interesting topic to discuss, in current context of world technology is everything, and connecting technology to the job that is performed is time saving, increase of productivity and efficiency. It helps to perform employee’s job easily and finish on time. When talking about old days all most all the functions were done manually, which was time consuming and error rate were high, with the implementation of technology all the functions has become more ease, time saving, error free, easy access ect. For example those days when HR wanted to find out a document of an employee they must take the personal file and go through the documents one by one, but now it’s just one click away. HR feeds all the data and documents in the system and at any given time it can be accessed easily.
As you have mentioned technology made man’s life ease and helps to perform his or her job very well, therefore there is a major impact of technology on job performance of employees.
